Bright Women, Bold Futures 2026 Collective: Angel Nelson

Bright Women, Bold Futures: The 2026 Collective

The Bright Women, Bold Futures campaign is more than a photoshoot, it is a living archive of the architects of the modern cannabis landscape. This year, we are honoring a collective of visionaries who refuse to wait for permission. These are the Entrepreneurs scaling new heights, the Advocates rewriting the rules of equity, the Educators stripping away stigma, and the Community Builders creating spaces where we finally feel seen.

They are bold in their leadership and bright in their vision, proving that when women lead, the future isn’t just different, it’s better.

Angel Nelson, Associate Activation Manager/Marketing of Curaleaf

From navigating the skies as a flight attendant to steering brand strategy for one of the world’s largest cannabis companies, Angel Nelson is a master of the “purposeful pivot.” As an Associate Activation Manager at Curaleaf, Angel blends her background in Integrative Medicine with a high-level marketing lens to drive awareness, sales, and community connection.

A graduate of Arizona State University and a current Ganjier candidate, Angel’s career is a testament to the power of holistic leadership. Beyond the spreadsheets and digital campaigns, she is a caregiver, a mentor, and a community builder dedicated to proving that professional success and personal purpose are not just compatible, they are inseparable.

1. What is a defining moment in your career that quietly shaped the leader you are today but that most people don’t know about?

My leadership journey extends beyond marketing. I have always been driven by purpose, community, and growth. I raised assistance dogs in high school and earned a scholarship to study abroad in Costa Rica.
As the oldest in a large family, I learned early how to lead by example. Responsibility was not optional. Becoming the first in my family to graduate college solidified my commitment to perseverance and service. Those experiences shaped me into a leader who values empathy, accountability, and action.

2. Beyond your title, what responsibility do you feel you carry as a woman building in this industry?

I feel a responsibility to lead with intention and authenticity. I am passionate about art, family, and holistic wellness. I support community events that focus on creativity and mentorship.
I am also a caregiver to my mother and younger sister. They are my daily motivation. My work is about more than ambition. It is about stability and generational progress.
As a woman in this industry, I aim to show that leadership can be both strong and compassionate.

3. What originally called you into cannabis, and how has your relationship with the plant evolved alongside your leadership journey?

Before cannabis, I worked as a flight attendant for three years. During that time, I returned to school to study holistic wellness. Cannabis consistently stood out to me.
My connection is personal. After my mother suffered a traumatic brain injury, she relied on cannabis for relief. Seeing its impact shifted my perspective.
After graduating from Arizona State University with a degree in Integrative Health, legalization was unfolding in Arizona. I left the airline industry to fully commit to cannabis.
What began as curiosity became purpose. Today, my leadership is rooted in education, advocacy, and responsible growth.

“Skill is important, but alignment opens doors. I mentor others to build strategically, not urgently.”

4. What is a lesson you learned the hard way that now informs how you mentor, hire, or collaborate with others?

In six years in cannabis, I have learned that relationships matter. Skill is important, but alignment opens doors. I also learned the value of discernment. Not every opportunity deserves a yes. Early on, I moved too quickly. Now I prioritize integrity, clear communication, and shared vision. I mentor others to build strategically, not urgently.

5. When you think about legacy, not success, what do you hope other women see as possible because you chose to lead boldly?

Legacy is about permission. Permission to step outside comfort zones and take risks. I want women to see that they can rewrite their narrative at any time in their life. Leadership is not reserved for a select few. If another woman can step into spaces I helped create, then I have done my part. That for me is legacy!

Angel Nelson isn’t just managing a brand; she’s fostering a movement of integrative care and holistic growth. Through her work at Curaleaf and her commitment to community, she is ensuring that the “Bright Future” of cannabis is one built on a foundation of empathy and excellence.

One Story. One Movement. Many more to come.

Angel is a vital part of our Bright Women, Bold Futures collective, a constellation of leaders lighting the path toward a more equitable and innovative industry.

Stay Tuned. Our next spotlight drops soon. You won’t want to miss the next leader who is breaking boundaries and building for the future.
